De persfotografen van De Standaard maakten vorige week allemaal een lijstje van hun tien beste foto's. Je kan ze vinden op http://www.standaard.be/info.aspx?topic=eindejaar#
Ikzelf vind het moeilijk om mijn tien beste foto's van het afgelopen jaar te kiezen. Ik denk dat de foto's in de blog mogen beschouwd worden als de beste van mijn jaar. Ze zijn dat om uiteenlopende redenen. Het theekopje: Ik snapte eindelijk hoe je die specifieke studiofoto maakt. Hans Muys: het fijne gesprek dat achter de foto zit. Het Internationaal Folklorefestival van Edegem: die tien fantastische dagen met mijn groep Russen, Marc en alle medewerkers van het festival.
Veel foto's bereikten jullie ook niet. Ze waren gewoon niet goed genoeg, ze waren te persoonlijk of ik heb gewoon nog niet de tijd gehad om ze te posten.
Dat is waarschijnlijk een van de kenmerken van foto's: ze zijn snel gemaakt maar ze zijn ook snel vergeten. Het zijn momentopnames. Een foto van vorig jaar wil ik jullie toch niet onthouden. Moest ik een lijstje gemaakt hebben van mijn beste foto's, zou hij er zeker tussen gestaan hebben. Oud-journalist Miel Dekeyzer nam na een interview uitgebreid de tijd om hem te laten fotograferen. Achter deze foto zit ook weer een mooi verhaal. Binnenkort kunnen jullie dat lezen in het mediatijdschrift Scoop van de studenten journalistiek van de Arteveldehogeschool in Gent.

I myself consider it rather hard to choose my ten best pictures of the past year. I think you can consider the pictures in the blog as my best ones. They are that for different reasons. The tea cup: I finally understood how you make that specific studio photo. Hans Muys: the nice conversation behind the picture. The International Folk Festival of Edegem: those ten great days together with my group of Russians, Marc and all the people at the festival.
Many pictures didn't reach you: they were not good enough, they were to personal or I just didn't found the time to post them.
That's is probably one of the characteristics of photos: they are made fast but also fast forgotten. They capture time. I still want to share one picture from last year. If I had made a list of my best pictures, this one would have been in it. Former journalist Miel Dekeyzer gave me enough time after an interview to make a portrait.
